Library
The library contains books and documents regarding the history of Ouder- Amstel and its surroundings. They are not lend out, but can be consulted in the study-room. A computerised catalogue on title and subject is available. The articles in the periodical of the local historical working-group are described in an comprehensive index on date, location, events and persons involved.
Photographs and picture postcards
The museum posseses a collection of over thousand photographs and picture postcards. Most of it is digitalized and easily accessible.
Prints, engravings and maps
Prints, engravings and maps from 16th, 17th and 18th centuries are present in the permanent exhibition as well as in archives. The latter are available on demand.
Objects
Prints,The objects in the museum are diverse: articles of use, mostly from 20th century, banners, uniforms and other fabrics, ceramics and china-ware, some archeological remains.
The 'Benningh- light-map'
This illuminated map, with photographs, forms a central object in the permanent exhibition. On a fine map from the 19th century rivers light up and represent the situation in the 16th century. Underneath the interesting story is told of a long struggle about watermanagement, constructing and destroying dams by different parties. These dams can be lit up by hand seperately. The important part played by Jan Benningh, governer and landowner, is emphasized.
