View on the River Amstel
The museum is situated at the confluence of the rivers Amstel and Bullewijk. Coming from the museum you have an unique view on the waterfront. On your right hand you see the houses of the Poor Relief Board, where families are still living now. The protestant church dominates the area. A house for societies, clubs and parties stands besides the church. On your left you see “ De Oude Smidse” (old blacksmith’s house). A restaurant now. On the other side of the river you see the former towhouse: “Het Jagershuis”, also a restaurant. More to the right was the house of the bridge keeper. In the old days there was a long drawup bridge that is now in the open- air museum in Arnhem.
